In recent years, the Sub-Department of Fisheries and Islands, together with local authorities, has raised fishermen’s awareness, fostering active community participation in protecting endangered wildlife.
The number of sea turtles nesting in the Hon Cau Marine Protected Area has risen in recent years. Since early this year, seven nests have been recorded, reflecting the species’ recovery and the thriving marine ecosystem. The latest hatched on August 8 after 46 days, with hatchlings released by the reserve’s patrol team.
