The pygmy loris handed over to the local forest protection unit
Nguyen Thi Phuong Hoa, a resident of Lam Trung Thuy Commune in Duc Tho District, spotted the animal at around 8:00 pm in her family’s garden and managed to safely capture it.
Recognising that it was a rare and protected species, Hoa immediately notified local officials and transferred the animal to the Duc Tho Forest Protection Unit.
The female pygmy loris weighs approximately 200 grammes and is reported to be in stable condition.
According to the forest protection unit, the animal has been transferred to Vu Quang National Park, where it will receive proper care and health monitoring before being released back into its natural habitat.
The pygmy loris is listed as a vulnerable species under Vietnamese law and international conservation guidelines. Wildlife experts have praised the resident’s swift and responsible actions.
