A reporter of Dantri/Dtinews on April 11 visited the family of Tran Thi Hong in Nghi Xuan District and transferred VND 168,288,222 that readers had sent to support her family.
Receiving the donation, the 66-year-old woman said that she had never dreamed of such a large sum of money in her life.
"I want to send my sincere thanks to all the kind donors for your support," she said. "After my story was published on Dantri/Dtinews, many people called to express their sympathy and send money to help us."
The 66-year-old woman shared that her husband had died just a few days ago after 12 years of being bed-ridden following a stroke.
But Hong is still busy taking care of her 31-year-old daughter who has also been bed-ridden since birth due to hydrocephalus. She herself has also been struggling with arthritis in some recent years and cannot do hard work.
