Polish meat exports gain ground in Vietnam market

Polish meat producers are stepping up their presence in Vietnam, targeting a fast-growing market with rising demand for imported food products.

Speaking at a consumer event on March 20 in Ho Chi Minh City, Wieslaw Rozanski of the Union of Producers and Employers of Meat Industry (UPEMI) said Vietnam’s strong economic growth, young population and increasing appetite for high-quality imports make it a key market in south-east Asia.

Poland is currently the fifth-largest food producer in the European Union and is expanding its footprint in Vietnam.

Trade data shows exports from Poland to Vietnam rose from EUR 175.7 million in 2023 to EUR 193.4 million in 2024, an increase of around 10 per cent. Notably, Polish beef officially entered the Vietnamese market in October 2025, opening new growth opportunities for the sector.

With domestic supply still limited, particularly for pork, Vietnam has been increasing imports to meet consumption demand, creating opportunities for foreign suppliers, including European firms.

Consumption trends remain strong, with pork intake reaching 37kg per person per year in 2024, while beef consumption stands at 7 to 8kg. These figures suggest significant room for expansion, including for Polish beef products.

Rozanski said the current period is favourable for promoting Polish meat in Vietnam, as rising incomes, rapid urbanisation and the expansion of hospitality, retail and food processing sectors drive demand.

An increasing number of Polish meat processing facilities have also been approved to export to Vietnam.

Polish meat products are now available in several major supermarket chains in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, while companies are also expanding into the HoReCa sector.

At the same time, trade promotion activities such as Food & Hospitality Vietnam are being used to boost brand visibility and reach Vietnamese consumers.
