Petrolimex sets E10 petrol price above VND 24,000 per litre

Vietnam’s largest fuel distributor has officially launched E10 biofuel petrol nationwide, pricing the new product at VND 24,630 per litre from May 13.

Petrolimex said the price applied to E10 RON 95-V petrol.

At the new rate, E10 RON 95-V is around VND 840 per litre more expensive than E5 RON 92 but about VND 620 cheaper than conventional RON 95-V petrol.

By the end of April, Petrolimex had completed seven standard blending storage clusters and standardised technical procedures at more than 2,800 retail stations nationwide in preparation for replacing mineral-based petrol.

The company also reported that pilot sales of E10 petrol in Ho Chi Minh City over the past eight months had recorded a 40 per cent increase in output.

Alongside Petrolimex, PV OIL announced plans to expand E10 biofuel sales across its nationwide network and discontinue sales of mineral-based RON 95 petrol from May 15.

Earlier, Vietnam’s Ministry of Industry and Trade proposed nationwide deployment of E10 biofuel from April 30, one month earlier than the previous roadmap.

E5 RON 92 petrol will continue to be sold until the end of 2030.

Authorities said the accelerated transition to E10 would help reduce dependence on fuel imports, stabilise the domestic market and strengthen national energy security.

The move is also seen as increasingly urgent amid global energy market volatility linked to conflict in the Middle East.

Many petroleum companies are gradually upgrading distribution systems, storage infrastructure and retail networks in preparation for the nationwide E10 rollout under the revised roadmap.
