Petroleum prices continue falling

Petroleum prices fell from 3 pm on Monday, the first drop in nearly two months.

Petroleum prices fell from 3 pm on Monday, the first drop in nearly two months.

Under a decision by the Ministry of Industry and Trade and Ministry of Finance, the retail prices of E5 RON 92 and RON 95 decreased by VND400 and VND590 per litre to VND20,470 and VND21,420 respectively.

Diesel prices declined by VND10 per litre to VND18,160. Meanwhile, kerosene fell by VND30 per litre to VND17,920.

Vietnam has adjusted petroleum prices 19 times so far this year, including nine rises and seven decreases.

For this price adjustment, the two ministries did not allocate funds to the petrol price stabilisation fund.

According to Voice of Vietnam, in mid-May, local retail petroleum trading businesses asked the government to issue a new decree to help iron out the snags facing them.

They complained that the majority of the retail petroleum trading businesses had sustained serious losses due to shortcomings in implementing the current government decree.

They expected that a new decree would be issued in the second quarter at the latest to help businesses operate efficiently and ensure national energy security.
