The fire was detected at around 8 pm on Wednesday in Muong Bang Commune in Tua Chua District.

The forest fire breaks out in Tua Chua, Dien Bien Province on April 3.
Right after being informed, district authorities sent 300 people for rescue efforts.
This morning, additional 300 people were sent to the site. However, the fire had not yet been brought under control by late Wednesday afternoon.
The firefighters are struggling with prolonged hot and dry weather, with temperatures at the scene sometimes reaching nearly 40 degrees centigrade. Steep terrain and strong winds have also affected firefighting efforts.
Dien Bien Forest Protection Department Director Ha Luong Hong said that it was unclear how much of the forest had been damaged by the fire.
