Farmers in the northern province of Hoa Binh are earning huge incomes from oranges.
People in mountainous district Cao Phong are harvesting a bountiful crop of oranges and mandarins. Tran Thi Vuong, a resident in Cao Phong, said 300 oranges trees brought in VND700m (USD33,000) in profit annually. About 160 households are earning similar incomes as Vuong's and 40 households have annual incomes of VND1bn to VND8bn.
Le Van Nam, another grower, said although harvest season had just started, he already sold nearly one tonne of oranges and mandarins daily.
