Nha Trang cracks down on illegal Ocean View Project construction

Ocean View Nha Trang Project blocked

OceanView Nha Trang Project is invested by Thien Nhan 2 Company. Only 18 out of Ocean View Nha Trang's 69 plots of land have been approved and included in the planning. On September 4, Khanh Hoa Province People's Committee issued the decision that force the investor to remove illegal buildings from September 4 to 19 or else the authorities would apply coercive measures.

However, construction still continued. Nha Trang City People's Committee said even when they cut off power and water supplies the investors used their own generators and brought water tanks to continue construction.

Khanh Hoa Department of Construction confirmed that construction activities were recorded on November 6.

On October 25, a group of 10 state employees including Nha Trang City Urban Management Department had arrived at the project and fenced off the area to prevent construction from continuing. Trucks with materials were refused entry and the authorities said they would seize the equipment if the investor continued to be stubborn.

However, many workers still arrived at the scene to work. When being asked about the noise coming from the project, a state employee said the workers were cleaning up the site but he admitted that he didn't know what they were doing inside.

Vinh Truong Ward People's Committee said they had hired an independent consulting firm to inspect and measure the area as well as violating constructions at Ocean View Nha Trang Project. Afterwards, they will forcibly remove the illegal buildings.

The Ocean View Nha Trang Project covers 7.28ha, including 2.12ha of protective forest land. There will be a total of 69 villas, a hotel and high-class apartment buildings. The villas were allowed to have a maximum of three floors and a basement. The apartment building was allowed to have 25 floors.

Le Van De, director of Khanh Hoa Department of Construction, said they would remove the illegally constructed extra floors or villas.
