The VND550 billion (USD 21.86 million) project to upgrade and expand Prenn Pass was finished early this year.

Prenn Pass in Da Lat has deteriorated again after being upgraded
However, some areas of the pass have deteriorated with cracks and subsidence, posing dangers to travellers. The section of the pass running in Da Lat City’s Ward 3 has been hardest hit, with more cracks found.
According to local authorities, the recent continuous heavy rain has caused deep water infiltration under the roadbed, damaging the road surface. Asphalt has been used to seal the cracks temporarily and prevent water from seeping into the foundation.
The repairs are underway and scheduled to be completed within three weeks.
The Deo Ca Construction Joint Stock Company has assured that the repair process will be comprehensive. The firm has mobilised personnel and equipment to carry out the work. Workers will excavate the cracked roadbed and repair the water drainage system. The roadbed will be also reinforced to deal with subsidence and cracks, ensuring a long-lasting solution.
Nguyen Van Gia, Director of the Lam Dong Department of Transport, said that during the Prenn Pass repair process, vehicles heading to Da Lat would be redirected towards Tuyen Lam Lake to come to the city centre and vice versa.
