Work on the VND12.5 trillion (USD516.52 million) Dau Giay-Phan Thiet Expressway started in September 2020 and the project was put into use from April 29, 2023
Authorities of Binh Thuan and Dong Nai provinces have urged the Thang Long Project Management Board, the investor of the Phan Thiet-Dau Giay Expressway project, to complete the remaining items quickly.
Intersections with National Highway 55 and Road 720 in Ham Tan District, Binh Thuan Province, still lack lighting, posing a safety hazard to traffic.
At the intersection with Road 720, the median strip is in disorder, obstructing the road surface area, while the area often sees a high volume of vehicles daily.
It is easy to see motorbikes running into the expressway through entries opened to serve construction work.
The lack of lighting is also seen at the intersection between the expressway and National Highway 55 in Ham Tan District in Binh Thuan. Many serious traffic accidents have happened at night.
Workers are installing fences to reinforce a pedestrian overpass crossing the expressway’s section in Dong Nai’s Xuan Loc District.
