Authorities and police in HCM City are searching for a new-born child who was kidnapped from a local hospital yesterday afternoon.

The room where the baby was
On the afternoon of January 9, leaders of District 7 Hospital confirmed that there had been a kidnapping of a one-day old baby at around 8am on that same day.
The baby’s mother, 41, from Phu My Ward, went to the hospital at around 2pm on January 8 and gave birth to a 3.2-kilo boy at 3:10pm on that day. The mother and her baby were sent to the post-labour room for further supervision.
The baby’s father had to leave the hospital at around 8am on January 9, leaving the mother with the baby as well as two other pregnant women.
Unfortunate mother
The mother was shocked to find that her baby had disappeared a few minutes after returning from the bathroom.
“I was nervous when I saw my baby was gone, so I ran to the corridor to ask for help. Some people said an anonymous woman took him downstairs and I reported it to local police,” the mother said.
The mother speculated that the kidnapper may be a woman between 24 and 25 years of age.
District 7 Hospital
“Last night, the woman was wandering in the halls near my room before entering the room to talk. She said she was taking care of her older sister who was going to give birth and walking around to pass time. She looked lovely, so I was not suspicious at the time,” she recalled.
After the incident, the mother was taken to a separate room for rest.
On the afternoon of January 9, Captain Dinh Quoc Cuong, Deputy Chief of Tan Phu Ward Police, said that immediately after being informed of the incident they went to the hospital to gather information and take statements.
