An additional 13,972 Covid-19 infections were reported in Vietnam on Tuesday, raising the total number of patients in the country to over 1.23 million, according to the Ministry of Health.
According to the ministry's report, 13,966 of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in 62 out of 63 localities in the country including HCM City (1,497), Can Tho (981), Ba Ria - Vung Tau (860), Tay Ninh (727), Soc Trang (714), Binh Duong (626), Dong Thap (602), Binh Thuan (592), Vinh Long (571), Bac Lieu (537), Dong Nai (514), Binh Phuoc (459), Ben Tre (439), Kien Giang (426), Ca Mau (377), Hanoi (367), Khanh Hoa (350), An Giang (294), Hau Giang (286), Lam Dong (219), and Tien Giang (200). There were six imported patients confirmed today.
The new infections showed an increase of 208 cases compared to yesterday's figure. There were 7,549 infections found in the community.
As of Tuesday evening, 1,232,852 infections had been reported since the new outbreak occurred in the country in late April. Some localities that have recorded the highest number of patients include HCM City (470,458), Binh Duong (282,231), Dong Nai (87,246), Long An (38,241), and Tien Giang (28,628).
With these new infection cases, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 1,238,082. The country now stands 35th among 223 countries and territories worldwide in the number of infections.
On November 30, an additional 14,624 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to 989,348.
On Tuesday evening, a further 197 deaths related to Covid-19 were announced, bringing the total number of fatalities in Vietnam to 25,252. The deaths were reported in some localities including HCM City (76), Binh Duong (22), Can Tho (18), An Giang (14), Kien Giang (13), Dong Nai (11), Binh Thuan (7), Dong Thap (7), Tay Ninh (6), Tien Giang (5), Bac Lieu (4), Khanh Hoa (3), Ca Mau (3), Soc Trang (2), Ben Tre (2), Binh Dinh (2), Long An (1), and Hau Giang (1).
Vietnam on November 29 administered more than 2.23 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines. The country has so far conducted over 122.08 million Covid-19 vaccine shots, with over 50.94 million people having received two doses.
