According to the ministry's report, all of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in 35 localities including HCM City (5,121), Binh Duong (3,332), Dong Nai (746), Long An (171), Kien Giang (99), and An Giang (81).
The new infection number showed an increase of 329 cases compared to yesterday's figure. There were 5,313 infections found in the community.
As of Sunday evening, 752,185 infections have been reported since the new outbreak occurred in the country in late April, with some southern localities recording high infections such as HCM City (371,660), Binh Duong (200,196), Dong Nai (45,667), Long An (31,789), and Tien Giang (13,787). The outbreak has so far spread to 62 out of 63 cities and provinces nationwide.
With these new infection cases, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 756,689 . The country now stands 44th among 222 countries and territories worldwide in the number of infections.
On September 26, an additional 11,477 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to 527,926.
On Sunday evening, a further 184 deaths related to Covid-19 were announced, bringing the total number of fatalities in Vietnam to 18,584. The deaths were reported in some localities including HCM City (131), Binh Duong (26), Dong Nai (9), Long An (4), An Giang (4), Tay Ninh (2), Kien Giang (2), Tien Giang (2), Danang (1), Ba Ria - Vung Tau (1), Nghe An (1), and Quang Ngai (1).
The country has so far conducted over 38.36 million Covid-19 vaccine shots, with over 7.94 million people having received two doses.
