National Day celebrated nationwide

Numerous activities are being held across the country to celebrate the 68th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day (September 2).

Numerous activities are being held across the country to celebrate the 68th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day (September 2).

* A photography exhibition featuring pictures of Vietnam from 1945–2013 opened at Ho Chi Minh City’s Lam Son Park on August 31. Eighty-five photos offer visitors clear insight into the history of the struggle against foreign invaders and the process of development and international integration in Vietnam, particularly in Ho Chi Minh City.

The same day, a photography exhibition entitled ‘Ho Chi Minh City – Development and Integration’ was opened at Chi Lang Park.

The exhibitions, organised by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, run until September 9.

* The Thai Binh provincial People’s Committee and a delegation of the province’s leaders have offered flowers and incense at the President Ho Chi Minh memorial area in Vu Thu district, Thai Binh province.

* A photography exhibition displaying 80 photos of Da Nang fishermen and their daily lives taken by amateur and professional photographers is on display in Da Nang city until September 4.

The 2013 International Food Fair, featuring a wide range of domestic and international food booths is also underway in Da Nang city.

* The Museum of Vietnamese Ethnic Cultures in Thai Nguyen province has organised a series of cultural activities, including folk games and traditional ethnic dance performances.

* The Huong Thuy town’s Fatherland Front Committee in Thua Thien – Hue province has presented 12 ‘Great Unity’ houses, each worth nearly VND100 million, to poor families in the town.

* Earlier, the Bac Lieu provincial People’s Committee also offered flowers and incense at the President Ho Chi Minh memorial area in Vinh Loi district, Bac Lieu province.
