| Vietnam Airlines will launch nearly 600 more flights during the traditional 2011 Tet holiday. |
The national flagship carrier has announced its capacity increase of over 100,000 seats on 10 routes which have the highest demand.
Accordingly, 307 more flights will be added from January 18th to February 20th, 2011 on the Ho Chi Minh City-Hanoi route, providing some 63,000 more seats, up 41% from its regular capacity and 8% from 2010 Tet holiday. On the Ho Chi Minh City-Da Nang City route, 129 more flights will be added with 26,820 seats which is an increase of 35% compared to its regular capacity and 24% compared to the same period last year.
Because of the overload at the airports during this time, all these additional flights will depart at night.
As planned, they will sell 50% of the additional seats on December 10, 2010. The rest will be sold in 3 periods with 20% on December 20, 20% on January 3 and the last 10% on January 17.
