On the early morning of June 12, Vu Dinh Lang found his paternal grandchild who was just 33 days old dead in a water bath. His mother Phan Thi Trinh, 20, is identified as the suspect.

At the police station, Trinh said she killed her son. According to the police’s initial judgment, the young mother may have suffered from post-natal depression.

The couple Vu Dinh Hai and Phan Thi Trinh got married in 2016. They have lived with each other in a harmonious way and do not have any conflicts with their neighbours. On the evening before the incident happened, the newborn boy slept with them.

Trinh has been shaken by grief.
