The Ministry of Construction has been instructed by the PM to submit a detailed plan on the relocation of ministries and agencies headquarters in Hanoi.

West Lake will be home to 12-14 ministries
The Ministry held a meeting concerned ministries and agencies in order to complete the draft plan.
According to the Hanoi Department of Planning and Architecture, a total land area of about 77 ha, including 27ha in the centre at the west end of West Lake and about 30-50 ha in the National Exhibition Fair Centre will be developed into new headquarters of ministries and agencies.
As such, some 12-14 ministries will share a land area of 27 ha in West Lake. Representatives from many ministries, including the ministries of Construction, Transport, Health, Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, and Agriculture and Rural Development said that 2 ha is not sufficient for their needs.
The draft plan, which has a vision towards 2030, also includes the stipulation that the new areas for ministries and agencies headquarters all lie in 'favourable locations', nears main roads and urban railways or large cultural and economic hubs, including the new Nghia Do urban area, Hoa Binh and Huu Nghi parks and Vietnam History Museum.
The Ministry of Construction will have to submit the draft plan to the PM by September 1, and will include investment mechanisms, financial sources for building. A large part of the money is expected to come from the sales of property in the old quarter. Construction may be carried out by Hanoi’s People Committee or the Ministry of Construction. About 1,600 households in Xuan La Commune, Tay Ho District will be relocated for this project.
According to Deputy Minister of Construction, Nguyen Dinh Toan, the PM has asked ministries and agencies to closely co-ordinate with Hanoi’s People Committee. Relocation will occur gradually, as the State budget permits.
