More than 2,000 workers from wholly Taiwanese-owned Freewell Ltd. Co., located in Binh Phuoc Province, halted work on the afternoon of November 8 after discovering their lunches were infested with worms.

The company specialises in the production of garment, textile and footwear products.
Many workers said, during their lunchtime, a number of workers found that the food being served to them, chicken, pork and Chinese sausage, was rotten and contained worms. The labourers collectively gathered in front of the plant in protest.
One worker at the company said this was not the first time they were given the sub-standard food.
According to Tuoi Tre Newspaper, the leaders of the company had agreed to pay wages on the afternoon of November 8 for those workers who chose to return. They also promised to check into the hygiene and quality of food being served to workers.
The firm spends about VND15,000 (USD0.71) per lunch per worker.
