An Indian woman who recently arrived in Vietnam has tested positive for SARS-CoV-2, raising the total number of Covid-19 patients in the country to 1,141, the Ministry of Health announced on Tuesday evening.

According to the ministry's report, the 29-year-old woman landed at the Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City on October 6. She was sent to a local quarantine area upon arrival.
She first tested negative for coronavirus but her second test came positive on October 19. The patient is now being treated at Cu Chi Field Hospital for Covid-19 patients.
With this new infection case, the number of imported Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 450.
As of 6pm on October 20, a total of 1,046 Covid-19 patients had recovered and been discharged from hospital. There have been 35 deaths, most of them being the elderly with serious underlying diseases.
The country has gone 48 days without reporting any new case in the community.
At present, 13,537 people who had close contact with Covid-19 patients or returned from virus-hit areas are being monitored at hospitals, quarantine facilities, and at home.
