Hue City is expected to experience widespread, prolonged heavy rain until late October
Starting from the evening of October 19, Hue City is expected to experience widespread, prolonged heavy rain that may persist until the end of October 2025.
To prepare for prolonged heavy rain, Hue’s Civil Defence Command has directed reservoir operators to follow specific plans from October 20-25 and late October to ensure dam safety and reduce downstream flooding.
Binh Dien Hydropower JSC announced it is regulating the reservoir’s water level through the spillway and turbines, gradually increasing the discharge from 120 to 200 square metres a second to prevent sudden surges and adjust further based on actual inflow.
The discharge increase began at 2 pm on October 15. Binh Dien Hydropower JSC asked local authorities in Kim Long Ward and Binh Dien Commune to alert downstream residents to take precautions and ensure safety.
Localities must monitor and address landslide risks around the reservoir and report results to the Hue City Civil Defence Command by October 18.
