Erosion occurred along the riverbank area running through Nguyen Huong Street in Cao Lanh Ward at around 5 pm on September 24.
The new 150-metre erosion site has cut 15 metres inland, damaging 20 houses and three graves. Five houses collapsed, five were partly damaged, and ten others remain at risk. The section adjoins a previously eroded area, affecting a total of 20 homes.

According to Bui Quoc Nam, chairman of Cao Lanh Ward’s People’s Committee, the new erosion is adjacent to the previous site.
Nam added that the erosion incident on September 20 also affected seven houses in the area. Erosion has cut about 20 metres inland over a stretch of roughly 100 metres.
Local authorities have evacuated residents and moved their belongings to safety. Warning signs have been put up, and local forces mobilised to handle the situation and support affected households, he highlighted.
He noted that the area may face further erosion, especially in the coming days as strong upstream flows, swift currents and high tides combine with rising and receding water levels.
The ward has proposed that concerned agencies issue an emergency response order to address the erosion. The plan includes filling whirlpools in the area to help prevent further collapse.
Tran Tri Quang, chairman of the Dong Thap People’s Committee, inspected the Tien River erosion site. He instructed relevant agencies to conduct a thorough survey, implement immediate measures, and propose long-term solutions for protecting the riverbank.
