Doctors at the National Institute of Burns held a consultation with several big hospitals in Hanoi on July 9 to work out the best treatment methods for three soldiers severely burned in the recent helicopter crash.

The director of the National Institute of Burns, Nguyen Gia Tien, said that the soldiers were hospitalised with severe burns over large portions of their bodies, some going as deep as the bone. Their lungs have also been burned due to hot air and smoke inhalation.
Professor Nguyen Tien Binh, Director of the Military Medical Academy, said the soldiers have burns over 52% to 83% of their bodies.
The hospitals have arranged their best equipment and doctors to proceed with treatment. All three patients are being given continuous blood purification. Some of their appendages have had to be amputated.
The Ministry of Health will make a team of their best professors and most advanced technologies, and even provide extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) free of charge.
Immediately after the accident on July 3, five soldiers were hospitalised due to injuries, however two later died succumbed to their injuries.
A memorial service will be held for the 18 soldiers who sacrificed their lives on July 11.
