Thousands of visitors have been flocking to Hoi An to enjoy a variety of festivals and tourism events being held to welcome in the National Tourism Year 2022.
Hoi An to attract more visitors during national tourism year
On March 23 Vo Thi Tinh and a group of friends arrived at the city in the central province of Quang Nam. She said that she was excited to see the bustling atmosphere.
"We've heard that the city is organising a series of activities to welcome in the National Tourism Year - Quang Nam 2022 and we wanted to see," Tinh said. "And we are really excited to see how local people are preparing for the events. I hope that Hoi An will attract more visitors in the coming time."
Head of the Hoi An City Department of Culture and Information, Tong Quoc Hung, said that the number of visitors to the city is increasing after the Lunar New Year Holiday.
“We are receiving about 2,000 visitors daily on weekdays and the number normally doubles at weekends," he said.
The official said that they were ready for the opening ceremony and series of related events for the National Tourism Year - Quang Nam 2022.
One of the activities is the hot air balloon festival which will be held for the first time in the city on March 25 and 26 at Song Hoai Square.
On the evening of March 25, the Night of Flowers programme will feature gas and flames being funnelled into the balloons, making them shine like giant lanterns.
"Other activities will also be held to create an unforgettable experience for visitors," Hung said, adding that they expected to attract some 50,000 visitors during this time.
