The Hoi An Gala Dinner - New Year’s Eve Countdown 2022 programme scheduled for December 31, and the welcoming ceremony for the first visitors to the city scheduled for January 1, 2022 will be cancelled to avoid large gatherings.

The city was expected to welcome eight delegations and some 400 visitors on the first day of 2022.


Quang Nam Provincial People's Committee Chairman Le Tri Thanh has asked relevant departments to ensure Covid-19 prevention during New Year celebrations.

Meanwhile, Hanoi, the country's new epicentre, will still organise cultural and entertainment programmes and festivities for New Year. Hanoi Chairman Chu Ngọc Anh has sent documents to various agencies and departments asking for proper preparations that ensure Covid-19 prevention.

Activities will be held at the Vietnam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism in the Dong Mo Tourism Area in Son Tay Town, Hanoi, from January 1-3, 2022, to welcome in 2022.

Hanoi will also organise a firework display during the Tet Lunar New Year Festival.
