HIV infections, especially among people aged from 20 to below 50, tend to increase in Nghe An Province, according to the provincial HIV/AIDS Prevention and Fight Center.
Nghe An has detected over 8,800 cases of HIV infection, including nearly 4,400 AIDS patients with over 2,300 fatal cases. Among HIV infected people, over 5,800 are men and 70 are children aged below 13, who have got the infection from their parents. In February, the province detected 27 cases of HIV infections.
Nghe An will embed HIV/AIDS prevention and fight in its socioeconomic development activities, create conditions for organizations and individuals to actively partake in HIV/AIDS control, and strengthen communication work in remote areas and at schools.
The province will also provide surveillance and consultancy services to high-risk people, maintain operation of direct and phone-based HIV testing consulting bureaus, and timely deal with social evils at grassroots levels.
