Despite rolling put the red carpet for high-flying graduates, Hanoi's local government agencies are being snubbed by university graduates.
Over the past ten years, Hanoi have honoured nearly 1,100 high-flying graduates, however, only 107, or one tenth, have chosen to work in the city’s administrative agencies, according to Nguyen Thi Vinh, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Interior Affairs Department.

Under the national education regulations, high-performing graduates will be accepted by colleges and universities for masters and doctorate degrees, with up to 60-70% of them continuing their intensive study inside and outside the country.

However before receiving graduation degrees, many of them have benefited from work experience by joint venture companies. Unsurprisingly the stale atmosphere and low wages of state administrate agencies are proving unattractive by comparison.

She added that to encourage talents graduates, the city has created the most favourable possible for them to work at local state agencies. Even those who do not have permanent residence in Hanoi can be directly recruited by the agencies.

Top graduates will also be considered for sponsored study abroad and provided with advances on their salaries for overseas study.

According to the official, to date, all the graduates who were sent to study abroad by Hanoi’s administrative agencies returned to the agencies to work.
