In Lien Chieu Ward, floodwaters swept down from nearby hills on Monday morning, forming strong currents through residential areas along Au Co Street.

Continuous rainfall from late November 2 to early November 3 inundated roads in Hoa Khanh Industrial Zone. Water levels near Thanh Vinh Market on Au Co Street rose to more than half a metre, creating hazardous travel conditions.

Residents said water began flowing down from the mountains at around 5 am, quickly reaching knee level. Hundreds of motorbikes stalled, while several people slipped and fell as they attempted to cross the fast-moving water.

Local authorities cordoned off flooded areas near Thanh Vinh Market as residents pushed stranded vehicles onto pavements. The flooding occurred during the morning rush hour, worsening congestion.

In the Hoa Khanh Industrial Zone, strong currents prevented workers from travelling along Road 2. Flooding also caused a landslide on Au Co Street, creating a large sinkhole.

The fast-flowing water eroded the embankment, carrying away soil and debris and weakening the foundation of a nearby building. Residents stacked sandbags to reinforce the area and prevent water from entering the car park.
