
Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen visits and presents gifts to a local resident.
According to Huynh Le Nhu Trang, deputy chairwoman of the municipal Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, the city will offer 475,400 gifts for revolutionary contributors, people entitled to social protection and other disadvantaged people. Each gift is worth between VND1.30-3.10 million.
Around 135,300 cadres, civil servants, public employees and workers will also be presented with Tet gifts, each worth VND1.80 million.
The city will use VND130 billion to organise Tet activities for workers who have lost jobs, face reduced working hours, or have experienced salary cuts.
The Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union has called for the donation of VND15 billion from the community to provide gifts and free bus and train tickets for students and workers to return to their homes during Tet.
