Nguyen Van Hanh Thuc, director of the HCM City Employment Service Centre, said the event would be its largest job fair, connecting employers and jobseekers across various sectors.
In the first nine months of 2026, businesses registered nearly 247,000 vacancies, compared with just over 174,000 jobseekers, highlighting a labour shortage.
The shortage became particularly pronounced in September, when employers advertised nearly 27,000 vacancies while the number of jobseekers fell to around 18,000, down from more than 21,000 in August.

This left a gap of nearly 9,000 positions between recruitment demand and available jobseekers.
The centre said mismatches in qualifications, skills, occupations, locations and working conditions were making recruitment more difficult, with some employers struggling to find suitable candidates despite a substantial pool of jobseekers.
Hiring demand is expected to rise further in the final three months of the year, adding pressure to an already tight labour market.
To address the shortage, the centre plans to organise more job fairs to help businesses recruit workers and improve access to employment opportunities.
The October 13 event is expected to offer tens of thousands of positions across various industries and salary levels.
Among participating employers, Cuong Thinh C&T Co Ltd is seeking 500 general workers, with no previous experience required and successful applicants able to start immediately.
Tan Vinh Nghia Wood Co Ltd is recruiting 50 general workers and four technical workers, offering monthly incomes of VND 9 million to VND 14 million (USD 342-532).
The fair will be held simultaneously at 12 locations across HCM City, combining in-person recruitment with online participation to make it easier for employers and jobseekers to connect.
