Many people in HCM City have become more relaxed about Covid-19 precautions and have not worn face masks in public places after the recent outbreak was brought under control.

An inspection team on April 27 went to various places in the city including 23rd September Park, and Bui Vien pedestrian street to raise public awareness and discovered many violators.

At 23rd September Park, the team asked a group of four people to wear face masks while being in a public place. A woman tried to reason that they had just done filming so they took out the face masks to discuss. The group was fined VND8m (USD347). Two men who did not wear face masks on Le Lai Street also showed uncooperative attitudes when being warned. They were fined VND4m.

According to Pham Ngu Lao Ward People's Committee, they have launched many awareness-raising programmes and issued many warnings.

However, there are still many people who opposed the rules or were uncooperative. They would continue patrolling and dealing with violators.
