The problem was discussed during an online meeting about Covid-19 prevention held by Deputy Secretary of HCMC's Party Committee, Phan Van Mai and Vice-Chairman of HCM City People's Committee Ngo Minh Chau with leaders of districts and Thu Duc City.

Binh Chanh District said they had set up 27 inspection teams after the social distancing rules were tightened. Quarantine centres were also set up at Vinh Loc B Resettlement Area for F1 people. The district detected 300 cases with the quick tests but only 100 people have been admitted and treated at the hospital. If the remaining 200 patients are not treated soon, they will pose an even higher risk of infection.

In addition, staff at medical stations in Binh Chanh are focusing on collecting samples for Covid-19 tests. After Binh Chanh Hospital was converted to treat Covid-19 patients, they lack medical facilities for patients with other diseases. Binh Chanh authorities proposed to set up a field hospital nearby but this plan has faced several difficulties.

Ngo Minh Chau asked the Department of Health to find a solution to the problem and ensure that there will be no more outbreak hotspots in HCM City.
