HCM City decorated by 40 flower markets for Tet

Ho Chi Minh City will hold 40 flower markets, from January 26 to February 2, for the Lunar New Year.

Ho Chi Minh City will hold 40 flower markets, from January 26 to February 2, for the Lunar New Year.

The markets will take place in a variety of areas around the city, including Le Van Tam Park in District 1, Gia Dinh Park in Go Vap District, and districts 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11, Tan Phu, Thu Duc, Binh Tan and Cu Chi.

The flower market to be launched in District 7, at Phu My Hung Urban Area, hopes to attract 500 booths, which will display flowers of every stripe and color. Also on display will be an assortment of plants, birds, fish ceramic ware and calligraphy. Over 1,200 species of ornamental trees and flowering plants unique to the country will be also be on exhibition.

This is to be the first flower festival of this magnitude in the city.

The flower market in Tan Phu District will be organised in Tay Thanh Ward with 150 booths of flower, bonsai trees and fruits.

Nguyen Hue Street will be transformed into a street of flowers between January 31 and February 6. Flora endemic to different parts of Vietnam will decorate the 800-meter road.

As an added attraction, “Book Road”, a festival of books, is to be held in Ho Chi Minh City from January 31 to February 6, on Mac Thi Buoi Street. This will be another first of its kind.

To top off festivities, there will be a 15-minute display of fireworks in eight different places around the city on Lunar New Year’s Eve.
