The Rach Tra tidal control gate will be funded by the municipal budget and built between 2026 and 2029 in Dong Thanh and Binh My communes, according to the city’s people’s committee.

The project is designed to regulate tides, improve drainage and mitigate flooding across more than 37,000 hectares in nine communes, including Hoc Mon, Cu Chi and Binh Loi.
It will also support water storage for the dry season and help reduce pollution in the Hoc Mon-Bac Binh Chanh irrigation system and the Tham Luong-Ben Cat-Nuoc Len canal network.
The structure will feature an 80-metre-wide, two-bay gate, a 15-metre navigation lock and a 300-square-metre operations facility.
