Many vegetables and food stalls at Hanoi's supermarkets sold well 


On Tuesday afternoon, lots of residents rushed to markets and supermarkets to purchase necessities. As a result, many supermarket shelves and market stalls ran out of stock.

At around 3 pm, Big C Thang Long Supermarket saw a large number of customers who mostly bought food. People had to queue in long lines to pay. However, prices were kept unchanged.

The same situation was seen at the Winmart chain and many markets in Hanoi with vegetables and meat sold the best.

Bui Nguyen Anh Tuan, Deputy Head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade’s Domestic Market Department, said that the supply of goods and prices of necessities have remained stable, except for some kinds of vegetables with slight price increases.

He advised people not to stock up on food as there is not any concerns about supplies.

A representative from WinEco which specialises in providing vegetables and fruits for the Winmart chain said that they have transported agricultural products from the south to help ease the shortage of vegetables caused by natural disasters.

People in many northern localities flocked to stockpile necessities ahead of Typhoon Yagi.
