Hanoi to face strong cold spell

Hanoi is forecasted to face the first strong cold spell this winter with temperatures falling to 14 degrees Celsius from December 13.

According to the National Centre for Hydrometeorological Forecasting, a new strong cold spell will hit the northern localities on December 13 when temperatures in Hanoi may fall to between 14-15 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, the mountainous areas may experience lower temperatures of between 11-13 degrees Celsius or even below 10 degrees on mountain peaks.

Rain may occur during the cold spell which is forecasted to last until December 15.

The northern region is currently experiencing a light cold spell with temperatures ranging between 15-17 degrees Celsius. The weather will become warmer on December 10 when temperatures increase to 19-21 degrees.

The average temperature is expected to gradually decrease towards the end of the month. In the second half of December, Hanoi would see the first cold spell of this winter season.

The colder weather in the northern and central regions is predicted to last until February.
