The 25-year-old woman from the outlying district of Thach That returned to Vietnam from South Korea where she participated in a training course on May 25. She was then quarantined in the central city of Danang’s Hoa Vang District. She tested negative for the virus two consecutive times.
On June 10, she finished the quarantine and came back home in Thach That. During the time at home, she did not contact any Covid-19 patients or suspected ones.
However, in mid-August, she came to a building in Hanoi’s Hoan Kiem District to complete visa procedures for her trip to France. She also went to a dental clinic on Hai Ba Trung Street.
On September 3, she took a flight from Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi to France for her further study with the two-hour transit in Qatar. One day later, she landed in France and had a positive Covid-19 test result. She is now being isolated at a dormitory of Paris IV University.
After being informed of the case, Thach Thach District’s Health Centre sent quick response teams to come to Phu Binh District for defining vulnerable people and sterilising areas which may be at risk.
Authorities have identified 12 people who had close contact with her, including 11 local residents. Those people have been provided with Covid-19 tests and are waiting for the result.
Some Vietnamese, including students, have tested positive for Covid-19 in foreign countries such as Japan and South Korea.
