Hanoi People’s Council have approved the relocation of nine state-owned businesses from the city centre in the next five years.

The municipal people’s committee previously proposed moving 10 state-owned enterprises out of Hanoi’s inner-city districts. The list includes Hanoi Alcohol Beer and Beverage Company, Nhan Dan Newspaper Printing Company, Ha Noi Moi Newspaper Printing Company, a printing facility of Vietnam News Agency, a 359-square metre office of Lao Dong and other facilities in the districts of Long Bien, Bac Tu Liem and Dong Da.

However, later, it withdrew the Lao Dong newspaper office from the list.

At a meeting of the Hanoi People’s Council, all delegates agreed on the relocation plan of the nine companies.

After being relocated, these facilities will be used for other purposes. For instance, Hanoi Alcohol Beer and Beverage Company which covers a 52,000-square metre site on Hoang Hoa Tham Street in Ba Dinh District Hanoi will be turned into houses, a high school and a parking lot.
