Hoan Kiem District will carry out the trial programme in all local wards, meanwhile, the other districts will select certain wards for implementation.

Nguyen Thi Hoa from Thanh Cong Ward in Ba Dinh District said that previously, she used to hire people to transport discarded furniture like tables and cabinets away. Now, thanks to collection points bulk waste available, she does not have to do this, helping her to save time and money.

There are three waste collection points in Ba Dinh District, located in Thanh Cong, Giang Vo and Nguyen Trung Truc wards. They are open from 4.30 to 6.30 pm from every Friday to Saturday.

According to the Hanoi Urban Environment Company, people in Nam Tu Liem District can bring large waste to collection points or call the firm for support. The company will send workers to gather the waste directly at their house free of charge.

The results of this pilot programme will then be the basis for the waste classification across the capital city from early 2026.

Hanoi discharges roughly 7,000 tonnes of household waste daily, just behind HCM City.
