According to the Hanoi People's Committee, they have agreed with a proposal from the municipal Department of Education and Training on the school reopening for these grades.
Schools are requested to ensure Covid-19 prevention regulations when being reopened. Safe distancing has to be applied among students. Meals are not provided at schools. Students are only allowed to study in the morning or in the afternoon, instead of a full day as usual.
Meanwhile, nursery schools will still be kept off school.
Hanoi has gradually allowed students from grades 7 to 12 to come back to schools for on-site study since late last year after they were fully given Covid-19 vaccines.
Vietnam is set to start vaccinating children in the 5-11 age range in the second week of April, with the first batch of vaccines (both Pfizer and Moderna’s) slated to be delivered as aid from Australia in the coming days.
Although the Covid-19 pandemic has passed its peak in Hanoi, the city is still the biggest epicentre in the country with around six and seven thousand infections confirmed daily.
