The photo won the first prize of the contest

However, just some days after receiving the prize, the photo was criticised for being edited and photoshopped, violating the contest regulations.

Speaking with reporters, Vu Quoc Khanh, Chairman of the Vietnam Photography Association said that the organising board had issued strict regulations about the contest and completely trusted the photographers' honesty. So, they had not checked the original photo that Nhu sent to them before announcing the prize.

According to Khanh, photographer Nhu admitted his mistake, explaining that he had not checked the contest regulations carefully. Nhu has voluntarily returned the first prize to the organising board.

Khanh noted that the case had provided the association with valuable experience in selecting work for its future contests.

Nhu's work was selected among the 1,875 photos sent entries.
