The authorities of districts and communes have been asked to step up inspections, deal with any land encroachment and construction violations in a timely manner.
They were also asked to check construction permits and streamline administrative procedures.
Though the plan to deal with super slim houses has been in effect since 2011, there were still 375 outstanding cases left unresolved as of August 2012.
According to district authorities, the merging of some super slim homes, one of the solutions mentioned in the plan, has faced obstacles because the owners of these homes are asking for very high prices to sell their land to neighbours.
The Hanoi Department of Construction has said that if the citizens are unable to work out the merging issue on their own, the city will tear down the super slim houses and compensation for neighbours will be less.
"After demolishing these homes the pavement might be a bit uneven, but the city will definitely look better," Trang Duc Hoc, deputy head of local Department of Construction said.
