Hanoi, Fukuoka to further environment cooperation

Hanoi and the Japanese Prefecture of Fukuoka will prioritize cooperation on building institutions and policies on environment.

Hanoi and the Japanese Prefecture of Fukuoka will prioritize cooperation on building institutions and policies on environment management and protection, water surface quality and river basin management.

According to the memorandum of understand on environment management and protection signed by Mr. Phi Thai Binh, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee and Mr. Wataru Aso, Governor of Fukuoka, on October 11, the two sides will also cooperate on treating wastewater and gas emission; classifying and treating hazardous, industrial and domestic wastes; developing clean and renewable energies; and addressing global environment issues such as biodiversity and climate change.

Besides, the two sides will implement some human resource training projects, raise public awareness about environment, exchange relevant technologies, and strengthen exchanges among environment-related companies and researchers to help improve the city’s environment.
