Hanoi authorities said that in recent days, the release of balloons, sky lanterns, flying toys and unauthorised drones has threatened security and the safety of air force training operations.

In the lead-up to the National Day on September 2, the Air Defense Air Force will conduct training flights to serve the upcoming parade.

To safeguard aerial security, the Hanoi People’s Committee has directed agencies and local authorities to publicise regulations on unmanned aircraft and ultralight flying devices, while strictly enforcing the ban on producing, trading, or releasing sky lanterns.

Hanoi police have been tasked with stepping up patrols to detect and prevent violations, and to strictly handle kite flying, balloon releases, flying toys, and sky lanterns that could disrupt Air Force operations.

The Hanoi Capital Command is responsible for directing local defense units to inform agencies, organisations, and individuals to suspend the use of licensed unmanned aircraft and other aerial vehicles, as approved by the General Staff’s Operations Department.

The command has also been instructed to work with relevant forces to neutralise unauthorised UAVs, seize them, and deal firmly with violations in accordance with the law.

On September 2, a grand military parade and march celebrating the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day will begin at 6.30 am at Ba Dinh Square and along key central streets. A full-dress rehearsal is set for 6.30 am on August 30.
