The white swans were brought to the lake in 2018.

According to a representative from Hanoi Sewage and Water Drainage Company, only two white and four black swans survive.
“Two first swans died after being raised at the lake for several months due to their failure to adapt to the living conditions. Four others died because of being injured by fish hooks.
The swans have laid dozens of eggs over the past time. The company has cooperated with some agencies to incubate the eggs, but have failed.
He added that the remaining swans were being bred in an area which is covered by a fence. Their wings have been clipped to prevent them flying from the lake. At present, they are only taken out of the fenced area every weekend.
