Ha Long Bay to be among destinations of world clipper race

As many as 11 yachts in the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race 2023-2024 will arrive at Ha Long Bay in the northern province of Quang Ninh in February.

As many as 11 yachts in the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race 2023-2024 will arrive at Ha Long Bay in the northern province of Quang Ninh in February.

Hundreds of yacht crew members will visit Ha Long City on February 16-27.

Quang Ninh will organise activities to welcome the guests as well as hold tourism promotion programmes.

The Ha Long Bay, Vietnamese team with 60 members aged between 27-73 will also join the event.

The Vietnamese team also competed in the Clipper Round the World Race in 2019-2020 and finished third.

Ha Long Bay was scheduled as one of the stops during the 2021-2022 Clipper Round the World Race but, due to the Covid-19 pandemic outbreak, it was cancelled.

The clipper race has been held for more than 20 years. The around-the-world race lasts a year.
