German man Thomas Dold, the world’s defending champion of vertical run, crowned the title today at the 178m vertical race in Ho Chi Minh City’s Bitexco Financial Tower.

Dold completed 1,002 steps of the race to reach the 49th floor with 4 minutes and 51 seconds to bag the first prize of the men’s professional group, followed by Emanuel Manzi from Italy at 5:27 minutes and Nguyen Ngoc Quang of Vietnam at 5:30.
Valentina Belotti from Italy won the women’s professional event at 6:19 and the world defending champion Melissa Moon from New Zealand came in second place and Bridget Robertson at third.
Runner Dwayne Fernandes won the title for the handicapped event when he finished the race with 14:31.
Vietnamese girl Hoang Nguyen Nhat Anh clinched the first title for girls’ U-19 event.
Each winner will receive a cash prize of US$1,500, and the first and second runner up will be awarded $700 and $300 respectively.
The 262m-tall Bitexco Financial Tower, that was completed a year ago with an investment of $270 million, is located in District 1 and has a total of 68 stories and 3 basements.
