The move came after reports about the appearance of many foreign tour guides working without permits at some tourist sites in Dalat City.
A South Korean tour guide was reported to have told a group of visitors about some stories about the king’s family at King Bao Dai’s Palace in Dalat. He said that the father of King Bao Dai had 100 sons, 50 of them followed their mother to live on a mountain while 50 others followed their father to live in the sea.
Speaking about the problem, the deputy director of Lam Dong Provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc admitted that some travel firms are still using foreign tourist guides who do not have work permits in the area.
“We have issued permissions for some foreign tour guides but no such cards have been given to any South Koreans," the official said. "Those who work illegally may face fines of up to VND 80 million."
The official said that they have asked tourism companies to tighten management on the operation of tour guides to curb the problems.
