According to Hoang Trong Nghia, Chairman of Tu Le Commune People’s Committee, at around 9 am today, August 26, floodwaters surged through a hotel on Khau Pha Pass, right off National Highway 32, sweeping away several sturgeon and salmon breeding ponds.

The hotel was built near a waterfall, where the owner used the stream for both fish farming and the hotel business. No specific figures on property damage are available yet, and fortunately, no casualties were reported.
Nghia said prolonged heavy rain from the night of August 25 to the early hours of August 26 caused floodwaters to rise, prompting authorities to evacuate more than 10 households from landslide-prone areas to safety.

Lao Cai is still experiencing heavy downpours, with floodwaters in local rivers and streams rising rapidly. Tu Le Commune’s police forces have been mobilised to implement emergency measures and remain on standby to support residents in case of urgent situations.
Heavy rain this morning also isolated several villages in Son Luong Commune. Local authorities immediately ordered inspections and the evacuation of residents and property from danger zones, strictly banning access to high-risk areas.
