At around 3:15 pm at Danang International Airport, when flight VN131 was about 10 minutes away from taking off to HCM City, a 36-year-old passenger from HCM City spread information about a grenade in a suitcase.

The aviation security force immediately informed concerned agencies of the case. Then, a thorough security check on all passengers, luggage and cargo was conducted.
The inspection finished at 4:40 pm, but no abnormalities were found. Flight VN131 was resumed at 5:15 pm on the same day.
The authorities have considered punishment for the passenger.
